Teacher Lacey Rodriguez thinks her handsome lover, Jamie MacLeod, may be losing interest in her. Their wild kinky sex has taken a violent twist, and making matters worse, Jamie’s new partner, rookie cop Kathleen O’Malley is a gorgeous tease. Jamie himself seems to have some deep dark secret. It seems everyone on the island does. As Lacey wonders how to rekindle their dying romance, life on Grim Island gets a whole lot darker, and Jamie finds he has a lot more to concern him than two horny women. Enter Kalini, an exotic medium from Salem who has loved him all her life. Now there are three. Old New England dumped their unwanted colonists in Rhode Island, with Grim Island getting the worst of those. Thieves, pirates, and murderers–black souls unwelcome anywhere. Unfortunately, they didn’t come alone. Now that ancient evil is crawling out of the grave and detective MacLeod has a much bigger problem than deciding which woman he really loves. How does he keep them all alive?

"“Jamie, Hon! Don’t be so rough!”
“Get on the bed, bitch. Not there, stupid! Near the foot. Now kneel and face me.” He glared at her, feeling his face freeze with cold-hearted meanness. He noticed her hair was already tumbling free; and somehow when he’d shoved her, he’d torn one flimsy sleeve away at her shoulder. Good. Apparently she hadn’t minded that much; he noticed her teasingly slipping her top blouse buttons undone. Making sure he was watching, she pouted and bit her bottom lip, while her long fingers pattered over her breasts. Jamie felt himself grow stiffer.
“Please don’t hurt me,” she giggled.
“Give me your left hand, Teach.” Lacey offered it to him, and he tied her wrist to the left bedpost at the foot of the bed with an old scarf.
